How Rotary became involved in Bocas Automatic audio transcript; may contain errors. [0:00] I had the fortune to meet Kurt Betzel from Texas who also lives in Popa Uno here in [0:05] Bocas who's family has a long history of being Rotarians and with our shared [0:10] passion for Rotary clubs we started to think about what it could look like for [0:13] Bocas and how we could get Rotary involved down here to support the [0:17] community. So over the course of a couple years through surveys of the [0:22] community and better understanding what Bocas residents wanted and how we [0:25] could start our own club here just to really learn a lot about the process and [0:31] eventually get to the point where we were ready to launch our own club this [0:33] past February of 2019. My name is Kurt Betzel. I'm originally from Arlington, Texas. [0:40] I am now a permanent resident of the Republic of Panama. I met Emily Tallendino [0:47] and very quickly learned of our mutual love and passion for Rotary [0:53] international. We both knew that for this community to progress it could with the [1:04] presence of rotary which we learned after the fact that they've been trying [1:09] to do that for about 15 years now and this time was now is the time.
