Ellie: why children might enjoy visiting Panama Automatic audio transcript; may contain errors. [0:00] Hi, my name is Ali and I'm 13 years old. [0:03] The local people need healthy drinking water, safe water to drink. [0:09] They get sick and they do not know where, sometimes they don't know where the sickness [0:14] comes from. [0:15] Lots of stomach issues and they get parasites and worms, so they really need safe drinking [0:20] water and they also need to know basic hygiene. [0:24] I think that having these groups come in, it really does help them. [0:28] I think that they have less medical problems than they did before. [0:34] The fact that we live on an island is interesting and the way we live and also all the outings [0:42] you can go on like to the beach, to the back caves, you can go zip lining. [0:52] There are so many other options to do and you can go snorkeling, you can go on lots [1:00] of adventures. [1:01] Here, if you were to get a knock on the door from your neighbor, it would be like for a [1:07] machete wound, like somebody needs stitches or somebody needs some sort of medical attention. [1:15] The other day, we were at a clinic and my dad was here and the lady came and she had to [1:19] get stitches so my dad stitched her up. [1:22] Before that, I think a guy cut himself in an axe and they stitched him up and, but [1:28] He was alone in the jungle, chopped his big toe. [1:32] I think it would be very interesting and educational for a kid from the states to come down and [1:41] see what the people around here are like, what the climate, what the place is like, [1:48] like better than what you'd learn at school.
